Product Features

This compact, rangefinder-style digital camera makes a great travel companion for any serious photo enthusiast. The X-E1’s 16.3-megapixel APS-C sensor and EXR Pro image processor are the same as its bigger brother X-Pro1’s, yet it is housed in a smaller body due to the absence of an optical viewfinder. However its electronic viewfinder utilizes a 2.36M dot OLED, which is an improvement over the X-Pro1. In terms of performance, the X-E1 features an ISO range of 100 – 6400 (expandable to 25,600 for JPEG only), Full HD movie recording with stereo mic, a 2.5mm stereo mic socket and compatibility with wired remote control units. It also has a 2.8" LCD, and a built-in pop-up flash. Features: X-Trans CMOS Sensor-Enabling high quality imaging: The X-E1's sensor adopts the same high-performance 16M X-Trans CMOS found in the X Series flagship X-Pro1 model. Featuring an originally developed color filter array with a highly random pixel arrangement, its X-Trans CMOS sensor eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter, which is used in conventional systems to inhibit moiré at the expense of resolution. The innovative array lets the X-Trans CMOS sensor capture unfiltered light from the lens and produce unprecedented resolution. The unique random arrangement of the color filter array is also highly effective in enhancing noise separation in high-sensitivity photography. Another advantage of the large APS-C sensor is the ability to create a beautiful “bokeh” effect - the aesthetic out-of-focus effect created when shooting with a shallow depth of field. High Definition and High-luminance 2.36 M-dot "OLED electronic viewfinder:" By combining the best “OLED electronic viewfinder” in its class with Fuji Film's original optical technology the X-E1 offers a bright, wide field of vision of which its entirety can be seen at a glance. With approx. 2.36M dots of resolution and 100% coverage, the X-E1 display panel provides incredible detail to perfectly frame and focus your shots. The rich color expression of OLED technology and high contrast ratio of 1:5000 reflect exposure, white balance and film simulation settings with high fidelity, let you confirm changes in real time. Innovative Design: The X-E1 employs numbered dials for aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation and is equipped with a viewfinder that allows you to select your composition. The design of the X-E1 resembles the cameras of the film age, and there is wisdom that has been passed down behind it. This gives the X-E1 commonality that transcends the ages. The X-E1 is designed to enable you to “quickly” capture that moment you wish to document. This Fuji XF 60mm f/2.4 is an aspherical 90mm-equivalant macro lens with superior optical performance. This lightweight all-metal lens has no visible distortion, focuses super-close, is super-sharp right out to the edges at f/2.4, has no lateral color fringes, has no visible light falloff even at f/2.4 and has superb bokeh — and it focuses so close that a subject 31 x 47mm (about an inch tall) fills your screen. This Fujinon XF 60/2.4 has all engraved markings and electronic auto and manual focus controlled by the camera. Most of the lens is a big, fat manual-focus ring. The manual focus ring works slowly and precisely, which is better than the XF 18mm f/2 and XF 35mm f/1.4, whose manual focus rings are useless. Who cares: the camera provides immediate manual focus, complete with magnification, with the tap of a button. The XF 60 also has an electronic diaphragm, set the 1/3-stop clicks of its real aperture ring. It's a funny lens, with a smaller snout that pokes out from the rest of the lens as focused more closely. Unlike the XF 18mm f/2 and XF 35mm f/1.4 that have 52mm filter threads, this 60 XF has LEICA-standard 39mm filter threads. Compared to the comparable LEICA MACRO-ELMAR-M 90mm f/4, this Fujinon lens has the same filter size, weighs less, is a stop-and-a-half faster, and most importantly, provides through-the-lens viewing, composition and focus, while the primitive LEICA system and LEICA M9 expect us to try to do macro looking through a viewfinder window a few inches away from the lens!
