Pairing an expansive 180° angle of view with a weather-resistant construction, the M.ZUIKO Digital ED 8mm f/1.8 Fisheye PRO from Olympus is a Micro Four Thirds system lens offering a 16mm equivalent focal length for unique perspectives and creative distortions. The fast f/1.8 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and a ZUIKO Extra-Low Reflection Optical (ZERO) coating has been applied to the lens elements to minimize the effects of flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich and color-accurate imagery. A sophisticated lens design further contributes to notable image quality by using a variety of aspherical, low dispersion, and high refractive index elements. A fast fisheye featuring a compact profile to match the Micro Four Thirds system, this lens further excels due to its optically refined and exterior-sealed design.

Complementing the optical merits is a high-speed imager AF system that provides fast, smooth, and quiet focusing and the Movie and Still Image Compatible (MSC) designation also indicates this lens' suitability for use with fast-moving subjects and video applications. A minimum focusing distance of 4.7", along with a maximum magnification of 0.2x (0.4x equivalent), also enables working with close-up subjects to further exaggerate the unique perspective afforded by the fisheye design.

An 8mm fisheye offers a 16mm equivalent focal length for Micro Four Thirds system cameras along with an expansive 180° angle of view with characteristic perspective distortions.
Fast f/1.8 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult and low-light conditions.
The lens construction integrates one aspherical element, three Super ED (extra-low dispersion) elements, two ED elements, one Super HR (high-refractive index) element, and two HR elements into its design to minimize aberrations, distortion, and color fringing while also contributing to overall image sharpness, clarity, and color fidelity.
ZERO coating helps to suppress lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and more accurate color rendering.
Dust, splash, and freezeproof construction ensures this lens' performance in inclement conditions and harsh environments.
High-speed imager AF linear motor drive system, with MSC (Movie and Still Image Compatible) support, provides fast, smooth, and quiet focusing performance.
Minimum focusing distance of 4.7" pairs with a 0.4x equivalent maximum magnification for photographing close-up subjects with an exaggerated perspective.

Opens up a new world

The arrival of the world’s first f/1.8 fisheye lens opens up a new world in underwater, macro, and starscape photography, as well as in everyday snapshots.

  •  Separately available underwater lens port is required for underwater photography.

Fascinating super close-up macro photography with beautiful background defocusing

This lens lets you get up to 2.5 cm* away from subjects and shoot with the exaggerated perspective and extreme distortion effects only possible with a fisheye lens. With an aperture of f/1.8, it also provides beautiful background defocusing for a truly unique macro image.

Taking starscapes to another level

Even at the maximum aperture value of f/1.8, images are sharp right up to the edges for beautiful starscape photography.

Exciting nightscapes

With a brightness of f/1.8 and a fisheye perspective, nightscapes come to life in a way they never have before.

Take a fresh approach to portraits

The fisheye lens is not traditionally associated with portraits, which is why it can capture eye-catching portraits that have never been seen before.

Amazing optical performance

As an addition to the M.Zuiko PRO series, highly acclaimed by professional photographers, the M.Zuiko ED 8mm f/1.8 Fisheye PRO boasts outstanding optical performance.

Optical performance levels never achieved before in starscape photography

Only the optical performance of the M.Zuiko ED 8mm f/1.8 Fisheye PRO can realize breathtaking starscapes such as the one you see below.

Stars appear as they should, as points of light, even in the periphery of the image

Hand-held fisheye nightscapes

Having a brightness of f/1.8 is excellent for nightscape shooting. Using this lens with a 5-axis-image-stablisation-equipped OM-D E-M1 or E-M5 Mark II, you can shoot unique nightscapes handheld.

Optical performance that provides excellent depictive power

Even with maximum aperture of f/1.8, the outstanding optical performance of the lens maintains high resolution even at the edges of the image.

  1. HR (High Refractive Index) lens
  2. Super HR lens
  3. ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens
  4. Super ED lens
  5. Aspherical lens

ZERO Coating thoroughly eliminates ghosts and flares

ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) Coating is applied to the lens surface to thoroughly eliminate ghosts and flares, which are known to be difficult to reduce because of their high transparency. ZERO Coating boasts clear image quality even under challenging conditions such as backlit situations.

Dustproof, splashproof, freezeproof

With hermetic sealing in 6 locations, this lens is dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof, allowing photography even in severe environments where professional photographers often venture out to for their work.
